  1. Wow…Just about 11 years ago, we were leaving MIAMI for the Bahamas on Brick House. We were heading out for a 4 year circumnavigation, and then the money would be gone, gone, gone! Somehow we managed to stay out and are only half way around the world now, in Tanzania Africa currently. Patrick sailed around the world solo decades ago, but this was my first time, and was 10+ years in the making too…so I really really identify with your video!
I remember for the first month cruising, down the east coast of the USA, that it didn’t feel like we had really started cruising yet..because we hadn’t left the USA. When we were finally leaving to the Bahamas, that’s when our REAL cruising felt like it was beginning. I can so identify with your excitement, enthusiasm, and apprehension too. As now veteran cruisers…I can tell you…some things get old…but leaving the country you are in and going to a new one never does! After 11 years, it still feels so amazing in every sense!

I wish you a fair passage, and a wonderful life out here We will be following you on your site and videos, and hope to share an anchorage with you someday! We too have a YouTube channel, but its more about fixing our boat in Exotic ports so it might be a little dry for some. We are starting to put in more clips about the fun places we are at too though. I Won’t post it here…but if you search “Patrick Childress Sailing”, you can follow our videos too. And of course our blog probably shows up here since it wants to know that information at the bottom of this comments page 😉

But yes..I agree…if you want to go cruising…Prepare, save your money, and then just DO IT!! I laughed when you said you husband makes “beep” happen. Patrick’s middle name is “Why Wait”. And I forge ahead with making what I want to happen too. That’s a great trait to have if you want to go cruising. And you obviously BOTH have that or you wouldn’t have left!!! Congrats!
